First, let's get one thing clear. I have talked with many Modular Home Factory people and they all have told me that they have not bought or installed any of this tainted drywall in their homes.
It appears that most of the bad drywall was purchased and installed by some of the larger tract home builders such as Lennar in Florida. These builders had absolutely no idea that the drywall was defective and Lennar has even offered to pay for effected homeowners to leave their homes while the company replaces all the drywall in their homes. Seems like the stand up kind thing to do.
Here is what the testing by Florida's Department of Health has found. Samples of Chinese-made drywall - including Knauf's - contained strontium sulfide, which gives a rotten egg odor when moistened and reacts with hydrogen in the air to take on corrosive powers capable of eating through metals and electrical wires.
We need stronger and better quality control coming out of China," says attorney Ervin Gonzalez of Miami, who is suing Knauf on behalf of 150 drywall victims. "And if China isn't doing it, the countries buying from them need to do a better job themselves."
Many of the homeowners affected by the contamination scandal, or striving to bring resolution, there is anger and frustration that this is just the latest in a series of health and safety scares relating to imported Chinese goods. Toxic baby toys, tainted animal feed and toothpaste, hazardous high-chairs, and infant formula contaminated with melamine have all been the focus of product recalls or warnings over the past 18 months.

There wouldn't BE a problem if the US stopped out-sourcing all it's manufacturing. In fact, there probably wouldn't be a recession/ depression if we kept US manufacturing in the US where it can and must be controlled.
But, when a person can make more money living on the dole than working a factory job well, you do the math.
Rant over...
Hey Chuck, have you ever looked at what most states pay for unemployment, let alone welfare(dole). If your rent or mortgage is more than $800.00 per month, then you'll be in bankruptcy in 3 months. And let's not even talk health insurance. Check around a little before you type. The problem is there are NO factory jobs in America anymore, only minimum wage service jobs. Just what the corpoations paid for when they bought Congress on the cheap.
